  • Acts in a responsible and fair manner

Procurement Leader Award Partnered by The Smart Cube

Great procurement leaders inspire, challenge and build great teams around them. They know when to play safe, when to take risks and are passionate supporters of the function. They are visionaries and strategists who are also able to spur on those around them to achieve great things.

The Procurement Leader award is open to all senior executives who have strategic responsibility for their organisation’s procurement function and will recognise how he or she has impacted the wider business and put procurement at the top table in their organisation.

Procurement Team Award Partnered by GEP

This category recognises the team that has worked together to achieve a significant goal. The team will have demonstrated initiative, creativity, and drive to be a positive force for change and improvement in their business.

Judges will be looking for teams with a broad mix of skills, personalities and backgrounds which have worked together to drive world-class performance in procurement.

Future Leader Award

Recognising future leaders is crucial to the retention of high-potentials as well as succession planning. These are the individuals who will be leading our procurement functions in the coming years and who will take the procurement profession itself to even greater heights.

This award recognises a future star of procurement whose senior leader believes will go on to achieve great things in the profession. Judges will be evaluating personal drive and determination, business acumen and ingenuity in tackling genuine procurement challenges.

Transformation Award Partnered by h&z

To greater reflect the varying levels of maturity within the procurement function and across all industries, this year, the transformation category will yield three shortlists based on whether your function is:

  • Developing
  • Established
  • Pioneering

Once your entry has been submitted, the Procurement Leaders expert research team will give each entrant company a score to determine maturity level, based on various factors including, company size, region, industry and turnover.

Innovation AwardPartnered by ivalua

Innovation is a popular word which is easily over-used, but in the context of these awards judges will be looking for how procurement organisations have succeeded in one or both of the following two scenarios:

  • Employed innovative new approaches or processes within the procurement function to achieve great results.
  • Helped to develop new product or service functionality/value through the use of recognised procurement levers.

To help our judges score this category, those entering are encouraged to focus on a specific project or initiative which took place during the past 12 months. This might include a specific new tool set, process improvement or product-improvement initiative.

Cross-Functional Collaboration Award

Collaboration with the wider business is crucial if procurement is to make a significant impact; whether that be with finance, product development, operations or marketing or another key business function.

This category will recognise a project or initiative which has collaborated with another function or group of functions at its core and that has delivered tangible commercial benefits. Judges will be looking for specific evidence of success and the role played by procurement in the collaboration.

External Collaboration Award

Procurement is in an excellent position to take advantage of the capabilities that exist in the supply base, and by collaborating with suppliers or other third parties can help both parties to succeed.

This award will recognise the collaborative efforts of an organisation and an external supplier or group of suppliers, which have had a tangible impact. Judges will look for real evidence of success in the form of improved efficiencies, innovative new approaches or product developments, reduced costs or reduced risk, among others.

Learning & Development Award

It is important for staff in any organisation to be supported in their learning and development needs and if done well it is also something that can lead to improved retention and superior results.

Whether developed entirely in house or in partnership with an external provider/institution, this award will recognise procurement functions that are giving their staff a tangible learning journey through their training programme.

CSR Award

With influence over thousands, sometimes tens of thousands of suppliers, this award will recognise the procurement function that has used that influence for a positive effect, while remaining financially responsible.

The award will recognise outstanding social, ethical, environmental and community-focused initiatives and judges will give particular praise to organisations that are using CSR or sustainability to gain competitive advantage.

Supply Chain Initiative Award

This award will be presented to the initiative that has most positively impacted the performance of an organisation’s supply chain. This could be a specific project or a longer-term programme which achieves significant results.


Judges will be looking for specific examples of excellence in demand forecasting, logistics, CSR, supply chain risk, on-time-delivery, among others and the impact these have had on the wider business.

Risk Mitigation Award

Managing and mitigating risk is one of the most crucial elements of procurement and with large, complex supply chains, and increasingly onerous regulation, it is a challenge that gets more difficult every year.

This category recognises companies that have mature approaches to supply, reputational or regulatory risk, which have had a tangible impact on the business. Judges will be looking for clear examples of how procurement has managed specific risks, the tools and techniques employed and specific results.

Procurement Employer Award

Being able to attract the best talent into procurement doesn’t only come down to money. High potentials demand to be in an environment of strategic influence, to work in a function which has the full support of corporate leadership.

Judges will be looking for organisations that combine excellent benefits with solid opportunities for career progression and development. At the same time, judges will be looking for evidence of how supportive corporate leaders are to the procurement function.

Procurement Service Provider Award

The vendor community and the work they do to help procurement teams achieve their goals is vital to the overall success and development of the procurement profession.

This category is open to consultancy, outsourcing, recruitment, solutions and technology and training organisations. Companies that believe they provide a high standard of service to their clients. Winners will describe a project implemented for a client that demonstrates value for money, great customer service and positive client feedback. Part of the criteria involves entrants providing a detailed and verifiable client testimonial.

Lifetime Achievement Award

The winner of this award will be a long-time proponent of procurement and a leader of the growth of the procurement function throughout their career. Businesses are welcome to nominate function luminaries, leaders and colleagues.

There is no shortlist for this awards and the winner will be announced on the night. On this occasion, the winner will be informed prior to the event.
