Judging Process


Entries are Judged by the Best, to Celebrate the Best

When you make an awards submission, your entry is put in front of some of the biggest players in the industry. These trailblazers are known for their business impact so they’re a tough group to impress. That means you can rest assured that entries are reviewed through a fair and rigorous process.

The World Procurement Awards have a three-stage judging process:

 

1.

Remote scoring: Each category is assigned to three judges for remote scoring and review

2.

Peer review: Every entry is seen by every judge, allowing them to agree, disagree or comment on the entry’s initial score from stage one

3.

Judging day: Regional judging panels gather in person for a lively debate and discussion of entries to establish the shortlist and winners

Christian Linhart was appointed Ooredoo Group Chief Procurement Officer in February 2016, after a successful period as Ooredoo’s Executive Director of Group Procurement.

Christian first joined Ooredoo in 2015 and has played a key role in the company’s ongoing organisational transformation programme, which aims to align Ooredoo’s local procurement and sourcing strategies more closely with its global capabilities.

He has a wealth of knowledge and experience as a procurement specialist, and in the last 10 years has secured more than 15 major procurement projects in the telecommunications space in three continents.

Before joining Ooredoo, Christian was Deputy Group CPO in MobileTelesystems (MTS). He also served on the Board of selected MTS operating companies. Prior to that, he worked in top-tier management consulting companies, McKinsey and A.T. Kearney, finishing in the role of Principal.

Christian has more than 18 years’ experience in the procurement field, and has received a number of significant industry awards, including a 2012 Global Procurement Leader Award, and the Russian Procurement Transparency Award, in 2011 and 2012.

He has a Joint Master’s degree in Business Administration and Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany and he has also spent a year at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA.

Henrik has been in the Maersk Group for more than 35 years starting in 1981 as a trainee. During the years he has been expatriated to the USA, the United Arab Emirates, Brazil and Germany – most of the time working for Maersk Line.

In 2003 Henrik started in Maersk Procurement, and today he is the Group’s Chief Procurement Officer managing a global workforce of procurement professionals. Henrik is physically located at the Maersk Procurement head office in Copenhagen.

Henrik has completed a number of internal courses plus an extensive Leadership Course from London Business School.

Mark Dady was appointed SVP and CPO Global Procurement of Mondelēz International on July 1st 2014.

In this role, Mark is responsible for the Strategic Leadership of the Procurement function. This includes Global Procurement responsibility for all Direct and Indirect Materials & Services, to enable delivery of the company’s Strategic Plan. Since his appointment Mark has launched and led a bold transformational agenda which has delivered world class results for Mondelez. Mark is as a member of the Mondelēz Leadership Council (MLC) and the Global Supply Chain Leadership Team (GSCLT). More recently Mark has assumed additional accountability for our companies Global Supply Chain Strategy.

Mark joined Mondelēz International in October 2012 as Vice President Procurement for Europe based in Zurich, Switzerland.

Before Mondelēz International, Mark enjoyed a successful career in PepsiCo, where he held positions of increasing responsibility in both Supply Chain and Procurement for 15 years. Most recently he was SVP Procurement for Europe, based in Switzerland, managing a spend of $9 BN across Direct Materials, Indirects and Commodities through a 300-strong team based in over 20 countries.
Prior to that, Mark was Sr. Buying Controller for Tesco, the world’s 3rd largest retailer, where he had a fast-track career getting experience in both Marketing and Procurement and across a wide range of categories, including Non-Foods and Foods, Branded, Private Labels, Fresh & Ambient.

He earned his degree in Economics and Politics at the Warwick University, England, and completed residential Executive training programs at INSEAD in both General Management and Finance.

With over 30 years of experience in the financial sector and biotechnology, Lene serves on the corporate leadership team of Vice Presidents that supports the company’s position as the leader of the industry with a market share of 48%.

After completing her studies in Finance and Accounting at Danske Bank Academy, Lene worked her way up from being a Cash Management Consultant at Danske Bank across various senior positions within the financial area at Novozymes to her current senior leadership role. During her more than 20 years with Novozymes, besides her current position she has headed up Investor Relations and Business Finance. Her career has offered her international experience through assignments outside of Denmark in France and US respectively.

For the past 20+ years, Howard has helped lead or advise Global Procurement transformations at six different multi-national corporations, helping them become high performing functions integrated with the strategy of their business. Currently, Howard serves as Head of Global Indirect Procurement for Citrix Systems, Inc. where the Procurement transformation has been integral to the strategy of streamlining the software company, improving operating margins, and containing costs while it makes its pivot to the cloud and migrates to a subscription service operating model.

Howard’s responsibilities have been wide ranging, including Finance, Procurement Change Management, Supply Chain Business Development, Raw Material Commodities Hedging and Trading, and leading Global IT Procurement and Indirect Procurement functions. While leading Indirect Procurement at Merck, Howard served on the boards of Telerx, a call center business, and the US Pan-Asian American Chamber of Commerce, which promotes use of firms owned by Asian-Americans. Later as a consultant, Howard helped establish and run a GPO for the hospitality industry before taking the role at Citrix.

Howard and his wife like to spend their time playing with their 5 grandchildren, but in between, he sneaks in time for his other passion - a round of golf. He has degrees in Geography as well as his MBA in Finance from Columbia University, where he lectures annually to a Marketing class on how to work with Procurement. In May, Howard’s Citrix Procurement Team was awarded the 2017 Procurement Leaders Award for Cross-Functional Transformation.

Nancy McGuire is responsible for sourcing and execution for IBM’s indirect spend in support of North America and Latin America. Nancy and her team are responsible for executing to IBM’s category strategies delivering on cost savings, supplier diversity targets, procurement transformation, as well as acquisition and divestiture support. Nancy leads a team of over 500 Procurement professionals, supporting $9.5B annual spend.

Prior to this role, Nancy was Director for Policy, Practices and Operations. Earlier assignments include executive and management roles in direct procurement, supply-demand planning and inventory management, supply assurance, and customer fulfilment. Nancy has held various sourcing, and supply chain roles throughout her 20+ years with IBM, including an assignment in Procurement in the Dublin, Ireland facility.

Nancy joined IBM in the RTP location before moving to Rochester, Minnesota where she worked for 5 years. She returned to RTP, and outside of the assignment to Ireland, she has continued to live and work in the RTP area. Nancy holds a BS degree in Industrial Engineering from The Ohio State University.

Todd Martz has over 25 years of sourcing and procurement experience. He has held various Procurement leadership roles at XL Catlin, Munich Re, Allianz AG, and Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company. Prior to that, he spent 7 years in management consulting with PwC and IBM in their strategic sourcing and procurement practice. As a management consultant, Todd worked directly with many fortune 100 companies to develop leading practices in strategic sourcing and procurement focusing on; organizational design, shared services, strategic sourcing, outsourcing, systems implementation and spend analytics. A partial client list includes; Disney, Universal Studios, Nike, Levi, Gap, Nortel, and Siemens.

Todd is also a member of the Supply Chain Resource Cooperative through North Carolina State University, Poole College of Management and an Advisory Board Member for Appalachian State University’s Supply Chain Program.

Egemen joined Bugaboo, a Dutch design company that makes mobility products such as pushchairs for infants, toddlers and luggage systems, in August 2014, as Global Sourcing Director. Since then, he has launched several programmes in the bugaboo sourcing organisation to transform sourcing into a high performing strategic function. In the last 4 years, this transformation resulted in doubling year-on-year savings, digitalisation of procurement operations, infrastructure for supplier enabled innovation and a compliant supply base to Bugaboo responsible business and quality standards. The sourcing team developed accordingly and in 2017, the team won the ‘External collaboration award’ in the Procurement Leaders Asia-Pacific Awards.

Prior to Bugaboo, Egemen worked in Kaercher, leading the German cleaning equipment brand and in Vestel Electronics, famous ODM/OEM company in Turkey for consumer electronics products. He managed spend ranging from $60M to $700M on direct materials and indirects. With a total 15 years of experience in sourcing and supply chain, Egemen is enthusiastic about innovation, disruptive strategies, self-steering teams and people development. He is holding an industrial engineering degree and MBA.

Glenn Johnston has over 25 years’ experience in procurement and logistics management across different industries, market leading companies and government. He is currently Director of Procurement at Transport for NSW, Group Rail. He has a master’s degree in Logistics management.

Glenn is a nationally recognised procurement expert and thought leader with a deep and proud passion for Indigenous business engagement. By helping Indigenous businesses grow and develop, Glenn firmly believes that this will lead to greater opportunities for Indigenous employment and a more inclusive economy.

Glenn was the recipient of the 2016 Supply Nation Procurement Professional of the Year Award in recognition of his work developing and engaging Indigenous businesses. He is a Fellow (Chartered status) of CIPS and Chair of the NSW Chapter of CIPS. Glenn is also a Board Member of Supply Nation and the AIATSIS Foundation.

In August-September 2016, Glenn became a Jawun program secondee and spent 6 weeks living with the Aboriginal Community of Lockhart River (Far North Qld), considered to be the most remote Aboriginal Community in Australia. During this time he helped the Mayor, CEO, Councillors, Elders and motivated locals develop a framework to enable less reliance on welfare and employment by the Council, through building small businesses with a goal of achieving self-determination though economic opportunities. Living with the Aboriginal Community also highlighted the importance of preserving the Indigenous culture through language, song lines, music, dance and art.

Kaustubh has over 20 years of experience in fields of Strategic Sourcing, Supply Chain Management, Commodities Trading and Strategy Consulting, ranging from operational to executive leadership roles at regional and global levels.

Kaustubh joined the Singtel Group in July 2014 as Group Chief Procurement Officer to oversee the procurement function and supply chain activities for the group companies namely Singtel, NCS and Optus. His mandate at Singtel has been to transform the Procurement/Supply Chain function into a world class function with strong global Sourcing/Supply Chain capabilities, automated process and a one that provides superior service to both internal and external stakeholders.

Prior to joining Singtel, Kaustubh was the regional CPO & Director of Sourcing/Supplier Relations China & Asia Pacific at Starbucks, based in Hong Kong. He played a pivotal role in regionalizing the supply network for Starbucks Asia Pacific. Before joining Starbucks, he held various global and regional leadership positions at Kraft Foods Inc., managing procurement strategy, direct and indirect materials procurement portfolios as well as procurement operations, based out of London, Chicago and Zurich. His earlier career included roles as a management consultant and as a commodities trader.

Kaustubh holds an MBA from INSEAD in France.
